Aside from baby stuff, my focus this month has been fitness. Turning 30 is knocking on the door and getting back into shape is high priority right now. I will also be signing up for my first 10k in October! Getting back on my running schedule makes me happy! So here’s what I’ve been up to lately…

When I started running a year ago, I discovered Women’s Running magazine and fell in love. Whatever issue that first one was, was the only magazine I’ve ever read front to back the first time I picked it up. There was a ton of inspiration and it really helped fuel my need to run. I bought the latest Runner’s World and it has some great articles this issue. So happy to have both of these to help me find my stride again.

I couldn’t get through my runs without this playlist that I’ve been compiling since the beginning. I usually stick it on shuffle and zone out.

Yesterday, I went to my first class at Pure Barre in Raleigh. Twenty minutes in and I wanted to die. At the end, I was ready to sign up for my next one! It’s incredibly challenging and am positive I’d see results after just a month of sticking to it. I can see why it’s been such a craze.
1. Create a scrapbook / baby book for Carter. Before he was born, I bought all the supplies and started putting them together. Since then, we’ve tucked a few things in the book to be included like his stamped footprints cards from the flowers we received and written memories on cards to be included with the pictures when they are printed. I bought photo paper this past weekend so I’m planning on working on pics soon but I’m not sure the book will come together until we get a few more months into it.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but we will be at the hospital tonight to be induced! I was diagnosed with mild preeclampsia this week and, since today we are at 37 weeks / full term, they decided that I am to be induced to prevent the condition from becoming worse. Thankfully, he is doing perfectly fine. It’s just a problem with mama!
When I was in for my appointment, I did ask the doctor if any of this could have been prevented if I hadn’t gained as much weight as I had. Her answer was a definitive “no”, which made me feel less guilty about how horrible I’ve been eating but also didn’t give me any comfort because it’s frustrating to know this is something I can’t help. Regardless of the preeclampsia, I gained entirely too much weight for my size. I’m so curious to see how big he will be and how much weight will come off immediately since a lot is actual water weight. I’ve been so antsy the past few months and have really missed my workouts and runs so I’ve been planning out my ideal workout routine and goals to help me get back into it!
