Last night, I was invited to the soft opening of the new Raleigh Smashburger. I had never eaten at one before but had seen them when we were in Denver, which is where they got their start. I didn’t think much of the store until getting invited to the opening and learning a bit more about the food, then learning about the owners of this franchise location and their impact on our local community during the opening. I’ll talk more about that below but, first, the food!
I’ve already begun thinking about holiday giving. We give to the same charities every year: St. Jude’s, ASPCA, and Raleigh Rescue Mission. I stumbled across this great article the other day in the November 2014 issue of Health magazine and I started thinking about what other charities are out there that I could give back to. The article talked about how millennials give more during the holidays than older generations, and just how popular crowdfunding has become.

Our 2013 Bucket Lists taught us a lot throughout the year, like how our priorities can change over a short period of time, or how easy it can be to over-commit to a goal. Likely this year won’t be much different, every year is an opportunity to learn, grow, change, and do good, for yourself and for others. Continue reading
