On Wisconsin!

Under the Oaks : On Wisconsin!Last week I shared with you all that I was in Northern Wisconsin resting up. Where we were was in a small town called Park Falls where my husband’s family has a modest cabin overlooking the 124-acre Lake Le Tourneau. We had a few obstacles (no cell reception, broken water pipes, broken fridge), but we mostly had a lot of relaxing fun. We explored Downtown Park Falls, canoed, sat on the pier and enjoyed 70-degree weather and beautiful lake views, fished, made fires for s’mores, and ate some good food (check back Thursday for that post). It was really nice to disconnect from our normally busy lives.

While we aren’t huge fans of Wisconsin in the winter time, we do enjoy all that summer has to offer (well most of what summer has to offer minus the state bird = mosquitos). Here are a few photos from our time in Wisconsin. Continue reading

February’s First Friday Raleigh

photo 1 (2)Every first Friday of the month is First Friday Raleigh, an evening when several business in downtown Raleigh stay open a little late to feature local artists, some with music, food, and drinks. A gallery walk of sorts. If there’s one night to go out downtown, it’s this night. It’s also pretty fantastic people watching. Here are some photos from this past Friday’s events.

Above was from our first stop at Brewmasters in the Warehouse District. Earlier that day I got a much needed manicure and found my new fave polish, OPI’s Vant to Bite My Neck. Trying to stay Paleo, I had a cider.

The friends we were hanging out with were involved in the set up and break down of the event so they had to be there for a bit. We figured we’d hang out since there was free beer!

Processed with VSCOcam with lv01 presetThere was a 30 minute wait for a table, which turned out to be perfect because they arrived shortly after we sat. The food was incredible and the atmosphere there is perfect. A great end to a fun night.

What are you favorite things to do around your town? Do you have monthly events like First Friday?
