Every first Friday of the month is First Friday Raleigh, an evening when several business in downtown Raleigh stay open a little late to feature local artists, some with music, food, and drinks. A gallery walk of sorts. If there’s one night to go out downtown, it’s this night. It’s also pretty fantastic people watching. Here are some photos from this past Friday’s events.
Above was from our first stop at Brewmasters in the Warehouse District. Earlier that day I got a much needed manicure and found my new fave polish, OPI’s Vant to Bite My Neck. Trying to stay Paleo, I had a cider.
After the first beer, we headed over to check out some models from students at the NC State School of Architecture. The friends we were hanging out with were involved in the set up and break down of the event so they had to be there for a bit. We figured we’d hang out since there was free beer!
We headed downstairs to see a few of the art galleries before they closed. The flags above indicate which galleries and shops are open for the festivities. You can spot them out all around downtown but the large crowds are usually your first indication.
Around 8, our friends had to start shutting down their event so we decided to walk a few blocks to one of my favorite restaurants in Raleigh, Capital Club 16, to have a beer and wait for them so we could all have dinner.
There was a 30 minute wait for a table, which turned out to be perfect because they arrived shortly after we sat. The food was incredible and the atmosphere there is perfect. A great end to a fun night.
What are you favorite things to do around your town? Do you have monthly events like First Friday?
