Hey y’all! If you are checking back after Tuesday’s blog post we made a decision on our next big home project: the kitchen! The job seems daunting, but if we are only able to get in one project before we decide to sell our house (if we decide to sell our house) than this is the one project we must take on.
The problem with the current state of our kitchen: outdated, unorganized storage, gets messy fast (because of the storage issue), no counter space (again, storage issue), appears unfinished, dishwasher needs replacing, and it just doesn’t feel like a place I want to be. I like to cook and bake, but to be honest my kitchen isn’t inviting because when I walk in I think of all the things that need to be updated, or fixed, and my desire to make food fades quickly. I feel like the kitchen should be the heart of the home. Ours is not.
- Re-paint, warmer lighter color
- Replace the dishwasher
- New sink and faucet
- Add molding to the tops of the cabinets
- Re-grout tiled floors
- Replace cabinet doors, as well as hardware
- Re-vamp our storage options, get rid of old dishes, etc.
- Re-vamp our “command center”, calendar etc.
I’ve been questioning why this task seems so daunting. I take on projects like this (and bigger) at work all the time. Why not approach this like a project at work? Define the budget, put together a project plan and responsible parties, timeline, etc.
I’ll keep you all posted! Do you have any kitchen renovation advice? xoxo ‘n lols, crystal
