Yesterday I sat and thought about all the things that will be filling my schedule in the next few weeks and I’m not going to lie, I am prematurely exhausted. Between work commitments and projects, home projects, volunteer efforts, fun with friends, holiday parties, and oh yeah, Christmas, I’ve packed my schedule to the brim. With that being said, I hope I’m able to take some time to celebrate winter time in Raleigh. There are so many great opportunities around town that bring winter to Raleigh despite the fact that there may not be snow for Christmas, that one thing that indicated Christmas to me growing up.
Ipreo Raleigh Winterfest in Downtown Raleigh. On the 400 block of Fayetteville Street you can find the outdoor ice rink through out the next two months. Even better, though, will be the Winterfest Festival this Saturaday from 3pm to 10pm. Purchase a ticket at a $1 a piece and you can enjoy the Tree Lighting, Taste of Downtown, Carnival Rides, Santa’s Village, Music, and the Gingerbread House Tent. If you happen to visit the Gingerbread House Tent take some time to marvel at the Red Hat Globally themed gingerbread office structure, I might know someone who helped design and build it (ahem).
North Hills Winter Wonderland. Can’t get enough winter at Winterfest? Stop in at Winter Wonderland at Midtown Park and enjoy two movies, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Elf. Classics!
Sleigh Rides in Brier Creek. Every Friday through Sunday from November 16th to December 23rd, Brier Creek Commons offers free sleigh rides. While waiting for a ride you can also grab some dinner and get your shopping on.
Happy December! xoxo ‘n lols, crystal
