As mentioned in Sunday’s post, we had an amazing weekend last week and we rounded it out by enjoying Sunday brunch at Parker and Otis in Durham’s historic Brightleaf Square. We’d initially selected it because we’d hoped the weather would be nice and we could eat outside. Alas, the weather was crap and we ate inside, but fear not, we had a blast.
To set the scene, upon arriving at Parker and Otis [and you want to arrive early, especially on a nice day] you promptly make your way to the “Eat” counter to order grub and then make your way to the coffee counter near the back of the shop to order your caffeinated beverage of choice. Once ordered, find a table because they will go fast. While you wait for your delectables to be delivered to your table, sit and take it all in because there is a lot to take in.
The eatery/shop has lots of unique niche shopping to offer: wine, gourmet food, beauty, children’s and baby gifts, unique candies, cards, chocolates. Think Cracker Barrel, but way cooler. Also, the food. Delicious. Crystal ordered the #4 Broccoli and Tomato Scramble and Annie got the #5 Black Forest Ham and Asparagus Scramble. The menu is somewhat limited, but you can order from the lunch menu if nothing from the breakfast menu catches your eye.
Have you enjoyed a meal at Parker and Otis, or have other hot brunch spot suggestions?
