Rachel’s DIY Storybook Baby Shower

This past Saturday, Crystal and I had the pleasure of hosting a baby shower for our good friend, Rachel. She is the first one in our little group to get pregnant and we are all so incredibly excited to welcome him into the world. On Tuesday, Crystal showed you how to make a Very Hungry Caterpillar from pom poms. Today, I’ll show you how it all came together as we celebrated Rachel and Baby Richard!

To throw a storybook themed shower, we picked some favorite childhood books and paired them with dishes. Above is James’ Peach & Blueberry Salad. Below is Winnie the Pooh & Paddington’s Honey Marmalade Chicken Wings. We also had Grandpa’s BBQ Meatballs (from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) and Carrots (veggies) with Hummus for Rachel’s favorite childhood book, The Runaway Bunny.

Crystal made the storybook wreath and I put together the “book worm” favors, which included a custom bookmark to remember the day. We purchased a board book of The Runaway Bunny to serve as our guest book. Guests picked a page and wrote a sweet message for Mama or Baby or both! And no baby shower is complete without baby games and snacks.

We had such a blast planning and celebrating! Isn’t she a such a beautiful mama-to-be?! Jason and I still aren’t at the point to start planning but all the oohs and aahs were enough to make a girl go crazy over how much super cute stuff Baby Richard got. Thank you, Rachel, for letting us celebrate you! We couldn’t be more excited for you and your family. Baby Richard, we’ll see you in October!
